"The Buddy Walk was established in 1995 by the National Down Syndrome Society to celebrate
Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October and to promote acceptance and inclusion of
people with Down syndrome.
Over the past thirteen years, the Buddy Walk program has grown from 17 walks to more than
275 expected in 2008 across the country and around the world. Last year alone, 250,000 people
participated in a Buddy Walk! They raised more than $9.5 million to benefit national education,
research and advocacy initiatives, as well as local programs. These funds enable NDSS and
local groups to offer services that support and enhance the quality of life for individuals with
Down syndrome and their families.
The Buddy Walk is a one-mile walk in which anyone can participate without special training. It is a
wonderful, heart-warming event that celebrates the many abilities and accomplishments
of people with Down syndrome. Whether you have Down Syndrome, know someone who
does, or just want to show your support, come and join a Buddy Walk in your local community!"

We are so excited to announce our 3rd Annual CMDSS Buddy Walk!
SCHEDULE *Island Park *Sunday, September 26th Times and Events to be determined soon!!
*Picnic to follow with games, clowns, balloons, and much more!!!!
There will be games for the kids, clowns, face-painting, balloons, and tons of fun! Come check out the inside of a police car and firetruck with the officers who have volunteered to bring them!!
Our Buddy Walk is for individuals with Down syndrome, families, friends, educators, health professionals, and those who would just like to show their support. Everyone is invited! No special talent or skill required!

Below are the forms needed for the Buddy Walk, 2010! Please download and print as many
copies as you may need. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at 989-621-5697
or email me at elizabethsmom@charter.net. These forms can be mailed to the address on
the home page, or call if your getting close to the Early Registration deadline (September
3rd) and I can pick them up in person to make sure you're qualified for the prizes and

Instructions for all forms, Please Read carefully to prevent confusion:
Walk Registration: Fill this out for everyone who is coming to walk with your Buddy! This is not
the pledge form, only the name of your walkers. Registrations may be turned in on the day of the
walk, but an Early Registration deadline will be announced to avoid lines, to receive discounted
prices on t-shirts and to qualify for prizes! EARLY REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS 9-3-2010!
Pledge Form: This is the form to fill out for the money pledged to you to make the walk. Ask
everyone! Family, friends, coworkers, neighbors! It's a GREAT cause! Each walker on your list
may fill out his own if desired, or you may combine them in any way you wish. Pledge forms may
be turne in on the day of the walk, but Early Registration deadline does apply for prizes.
Corporate Sponsor Form: I've included this form in case you have businesses you'd like to
approach for donation / sponsorship. However, if you do ask a business to participate by donating
and/or sponsoring the walk, please let me know right away so I can add them to the list and they do
not get approached twice. Also, after consulting experienced Buddy Walk organizers, it was
decided that **if a business is approached and asked to be a sponsor, it should be as a
sponsor of CMDSS's Buddy Walk, NOT of an individual walker/buddy. Thank you for your
compliance with this rule.
