History of the Buddy Walk...
|
Buddy Walk 2008 was a huge success!! We would like to thank everyone who
sponsored us, both personal sponsors and corporate. A big thank you to all
of the people who worked behind the scenes, including, but certainly not
limited to, the High School Students who got up early (they were at the park
HOURS before the walk, especially difficult when you're 16! haha) And a
HUGE thank you to everyone who came to walk! Pulling together, this is what
made the day a success. You should all be incredibly proud!
We had a wonderful turnout with more than 275 participants! From the almost
newborn, to the Great-Great Grandmother (92 years old). We had people from
as far away as Indiana, Canada, and New Orleans, LA come to support us.
We had children and adults with Down syndrome from Mount Pleasant, Clare,
Farwell, Blanchard, and St. Louis. One family drove down from Petoskey with
their daughter who just turned one. We enjoyed each and every one of these
kids and adults, and they seemed to enjoy themselves.
So, everyone give yourself a big pat on the back... and rest up, planning for the
next one will begin soon!! :-)
Thanks also to the Mount Pleasant Fire Firefighters for bringing their truck and giving the kids
a treat! To the Physical Therapist group from Central who worked with the kids, and the
Clowns who made their faces brighter with paint. You all made our day even better.
